How to play

Koopia is a fast-paced, head-to-head dexterity game where precision, strategy, and clutch shots decide the winner.

Objective

  • Be the first team to reach 15 points, or
  • Win instantly by achieving a Koopia — landing one disc in each of your opponent’s six scoring pits during a single round.

Setup

  • Divide players into two teams.
  • Each team stands behind their own shooting line.
  • Randomly choose one team to shoot first.
  • Each team shoots a total of 8 discs per round.

How a Round Works

  • The starting team places one disc behind their shooting line.
  • From a stationary position, flick or push the disc toward the opposite end.
  • The goal is to land the disc fully inside one of the opponent’s scoring pits.
  • The opposing team then takes their turn.
  • Teams alternate until all discs have been played.

End of the Round

  • Once all discs are played, scoring begins.
  • If neither team has won, clear the board.
  • The team with the fewest points starts the next round.

Scoring

  • Disc fully inside an opponent’s scoring pit = +1 point
  • Disc that lands in your own scoring pit = –1 point and is immediately removed
  • Partial discs do not score

Scoring Example

Team A lands 3 discs in Team B’s pits.
Team B lands 2 discs in Team A’s pits and 1 disc in their own pit.

Team A: 3 points
Team B: 2 − 1 = 1 point

Winning the Game

  • Achieve a Koopia () to win instantly.
  • Or be the first team to reach 15 points after any round.
  • If both teams tie at 15 points or both achieve a Koopia in the same round, play an Overtime Shootout.

Overtime Shootout

  • Clear the board of all discs.
  • Both teams play one full round, shooting all of their discs.
  • No points are tallied.
  • The team that lands the most discs in their opponent’s scoring pits wins.
  • If tied, repeat the Overtime Shootout until a winner is decided.

Additional Rules

  • Discs cannot be moved by hand during play.
  • Partial discs in scoring pits do not count.
  • Discs may score via ricochet or by knocking other discs.
  • Discs may be flicked from anywhere behind the shooting line.
  • You may not strike an opponent’s disc that is behind your shooting line; shots must go around them.
  • If you hit an opponent’s disc on your side of the shooting line, it is removed and replaced as close as possible to its original position.
  • No strict time limit, but keep play moving.
  • Any disc that leaves the board is removed for the remainder of the round.

House rules are welcome. Koopia is designed to be competitive, fast, and fun with friends.
